New Perspectives by Habeeb

On Tuesday Tristen and I held a club meeting for spoken word. For a good portion of the time we went around the room listening to everyone’s work. As we made our way around it was kind of an eye opener to me listening to people’s perspectives and interpretations on different things; whether it came to their cat, or adversity that they’ve faced. It showed some of the talent and different ideas that were hiding around Westtown’s hallways and classrooms. Afterwards Tristen and I presented the idea to the club about performing during a Friday Assembly. We got good feedback from the club in terms of the amount people who were interested, but we’re still looking for just a few more. To follow the book we plan to self publish, we decided to make the theme of the performance next month to be relationships.

Turning to our Tumblr page, Tristen and I got a request from someone to have a different language put into our work. So this week we’ll be focused on coming up with some poetry with a hint of languages incorporated. For now, I’m thinking about mixing French and Spanish into one, but we’ll see how it turns out.
